LOCAL RETAILERS HAVE UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES TO BE A PART OF NEW RETAIL OFFERINGS AT NEW MEXICO’S LARGEST AIRPORT

With the Dream of Flight terminal renovation project now well underway, the Albuquerque International Sunport is being reimagined.

The renovation project includes a complete concessions redevelopment, and will feature new and expanded retail spaces in addition to

refreshed food and beverage options.

The Sunport is looking for distinctive New Mexico-based businesses to help create an authentic, diverse and vibrant New Mexico

experience for the millions of people who travel through the Sunport each year. New Mexico offers some of the most dynamic retail

experiences in the country, and there is no better way to highlight this than to bring local businesses into a space with millions of

potential customers – the Sunport’s passengers.

The Sunport has been actively engaging with the community to raise awareness of the concessions redevelopment project. A new

doing business website was launched in December 2022, and the Sunport hosted a free, virtual information session for food and

beverage concessionaires in January.

Now, the Sunport is shifting its attention to retail. The Sunport is releasing a Retail Concessionaire Request for Proposals (RFP) for

retail business owners interested in operating at the airport. The RFP will be released in early December 2023 through the City of

Albuquerque’s online solicitation platform, Bonfire.

To provide more information and guidance, there will be another informational webinar (passcode: 966866) on Friday, December 1st

,

2023 at 10am MST. Registration is not required.

“As the Dream of Flight renovation project continues to unfold, we are asking the New Mexico business community to join us in

reimagining our concessions offerings through this unique retail opportunity, which will further elevate the passenger experience.”

said Manny Manriquez, Aviation Department Innovation and Commercial Development Manager.

Very small retail businesses, especially artisans, makers, and other sole-proprietors, won’t be left out of the mix. The Sunport will also

be launching a retail kiosk program in early 2024 to create a vibrant – and diverse – shopping experience in the terminal. More

information about that program, including related business development assistance, will be announced in January 2024.
